I was excited to finally view this movie because it’s based on one of my favorite novels:
The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells. Wells didn’t like this 1932 adaption much—and I can see why he’d say that—but I certainly enjoyed it. A bonus in this DVD edition (among other swell things) is an interview with one of my favorite bands, Devo, whose concept of de-evolution was greatly influenced by this movie. I had not known that this interview, and two early Devo music videos, were included with the disc before I pre-ordered it, so it came as a nice surprise. Anyway, I can safely state that this DVD belongs in any classic horror collection and was well worth the price. The link below will tell you more about this thrilling and effective movie.
