Earlier this week, Jacob Kier, our editor at Permuted Press, and my pal author William Meikle both pointed out that the e-versions of the Dead Earth books are selling like hotcakes. Shortly after hearing this news, I became a ratings junkie, checking Amazon often for the latest statistics. Both books are currently in the top 100 but strangely enough The Green Dawn is on the science fiction list and The Vengeance Road is on the horror/occult list. I guess that’s because the saga could be considered horror/sf--but I like to think of them as fantastic pulp horror/sf adventure; is there a category for that? I am very happy regardless of which chart they’re on. Thanks to all of you who took a chance on a couple of newer names and decided to download our books. I hope you were not disappointed! Let me know, or better yet, post a review and tell a few friends. I’d appreciate it and I’m sure Mark Justice would too.
Speaking of Dead Earth, the writing on the new book goes well. We have plenty of new ideas and are taking the characters on a long journey they’ll never forget—hopefully the readers won’t forget either. So for those of you who crave more of the adventures of Jubal Slate and company, it’s definitely on its way.
In related news, I’ll be on the next Pod of Horror, the podcast hosted by Mark Justice. It’s been a while since we've actually talked over the phone—we usually use email—and I look forward to the experience. There will be lots to discuss so check it out when it becomes available.
Until next time, take care of yourself--and each other.
