It’s 2011, I still walk the planet, and, boy, does it feel good.
I’m listening to Black Sabbath’s Vol. 4 as I write this, looking forward to a future where I blog here more often instead of just posting my book news. I’ll be stretching my wings, doing a book review here and an album review there—or whatever else is rattling around in my skull.
Speaking of albums, have you heard the band Ghost yet? Their new CD is called Opus Eponymous and it has been in constant rotation here at the Dave Cave ever since I downloaded it from Amazon. To me, these Swedish fellows sound like an updated Blue Oyster Cult, one that has a hardcore love for ye olde Devil. It’s a doom record with melodic harmonies, tightly performed with laser-like precision and no filler. Damn near perfect, I’d say. Other comparisons I’ve heard have been to King Diamond, Black Sabbath and Hammer horror film soundtracks. So if all that sounds tempting, stop dawdling, go forth and buy the dang thing! And just keep telling yourself, it’s only a studio album, it’s only a studio album…
Mark Justice and I have begun writing the third Dead Earth book so I will be pretty busy between writing that and other fiction, maintaining Page Horrific, moderating Reading Rebellion and trying to get the word out on my other various projects like The Vengeance Road and Living After Midnight. All that means is that I’ll have less time for message boards, eventually just posting on my own. I’ll still maintain a presence on Facebook but probably not as often as last year. But, heck, you already know where this blog is in cyberspace, so you will always know where I am.
Nice to see you here, by the way.
Until next time, take care of yourself--and each other.
